  • 2 c white sugar
  • 1 3/4 c AP flour
  • 3/4 c cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c milk
  • 1/2 c oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c boiling water (or brewed coffee ☕️)


  • 1 c softened butter (I use salted butter)
  • 3 1/2 c icing sugar
  • 1/2 c cocoa powder
  • 4 tbsp heavy cream (you can use milk too, but won’t be quite as creamy)
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Cake: Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients in separate bowls (except for the boiling water). Add the wet mixture to the dry and combine. Pour in the boiling water (or coffee) and mix until smooth. Pour this batter into 2 round greased cake pans with parchment papered bottoms. Bake in a 350 degree oven till done and springy. While cakes are cooling, make the frosting. 

Frosting: Use the whisk attachment on your mixer, beat the butter till creamy (2 minutes). Add all the other ingredients and beat until it’s smooth and creamy. Adjust with a tbsp more cream or icing sugar to achieve desired consistency! 

Assembly: Once cakes are cooled, cover and stack the cakes with chocolate frosting and garnish with Utoffeea DARK for a special treat. Bake this cake for someone you love today!
